Here is the official fasting calendar of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church for 2026. Each year includes several multi-day fasts as well as regular one-day fasts. The longer fasting periods precede some of the major Christian feasts:
Pork pacha is a traditional Bulgarian soup made from collagen-rich pork cuts such as feet, ears, tail, or head.
Tripe soup is a traditional dish in Balkan and Bulgarian cuisine. It is traditionally made from veal or lamb/kid tripe and seasoned with garlic vinegar and hot pepper.
Golyama Straza Peak is 2799 m high and is the eighth highest peak in Pirin. It is part of the Ushitsite (Straza) ridge, located between the peaks of Polezhan and Kaymakchal.
This is a more unusual trip to Zagaza Hut by bike. Until now, I had been to the hut several times by bike, starting from Kresna.
This is another cycling tour of Lake Kerkini for our group, but this time the Petrich group joined us and we gathered about 40 people for this tour.
In mid-September, we decided to go on a cycling trip in memory of Vesko from Petrich. The idea was to cycle to Malina hut and then descend the next day to Skoko waterfall above the village of Kashina.
In mid-November, we were wondering what an easy hike to do, and in the end, we chose to tackle the side peaks south of Solishte – Kelio, Kotsov Grob, and Stefanov Peak.
This year, we climbed Sinanitsa Peak again on August 28—Michaela's birthday. It has become a tradition for her to climb the peak on her birthday.
