There are many waterfalls in the Belasitsa Mountain, with over 10 in the Bulgarian part of the mountain alone. It would be difficult to visit them all in one day, but it is entirely possible to see the main and most captivating waterfalls in Belasitsa.

We decided to start our walk by visiting the waterfalls from east to west, deciding to skip the first waterfall – Leshnishki, which is located near the Belasitsa hut and most of the group had already visited it.

Kamenishki Waterfall Sramazhlivetsa

The next waterfall is Kamenishki, better known as Sramazhlivetsa. It is located above the village of Kamen on the Kameshnitsa River. From the end of the village, where we left our cars, there is an eco-trail to the waterfall, and in about half an hour we reached the beautiful and full-flowing waterfall.

It is 21 meters high and falls into a carved stone bed hidden among the rocks, which is why it is called Sramazhlivetsa. Above this waterfall, there are six more smaller ones, but they are located at least another 30-40 minutes uphill, and there is no clearly marked trail, so we left them for our next visit to the area.

Yavornishki Waterfall

The next waterfall we visited was Yavornishki Waterfall. It is located near the village of Yavornitsa. We left our cars at the local mosque and Muslim cemetery, which are located at the end of the village. From there, a marked eco-trail called "The Butterflies and Flowers of Belasitsa" starts.

The waterfall can be reached in about 20 minutes. Along the river before the waterfall, there are rest areas with tables, benches, and gazebos. The Yavorniški Waterfall itself is lower, but I liked it more because it elegantly scattered its streams of water.

The waterfalls above the village of Klyuch – Chergata, Metlata, and Vretenoto

waterfalls Chergata, Metlata

Our next stop was the village of Klyuch. We didn't see any aliens, but we did enjoy three beautiful waterfalls located on the river above the village. The three waterfalls are located close to each other and are named Cherгата, Metлата, and Vretenoto.

The trail starts from the village itself and continues along the river and the impressive-looking trees with very unusual shapes located around it. At first, the trail is easy, but then it becomes steep and more difficult to walk on. These waterfalls were the most difficult to access of all those we visited during the day.

For the uppermost waterfall, Vreteno, there is even a rope stretched across to facilitate access to it along the steep and slippery slope. Otherwise, there were ropes stretched across several places along the trail leading to the waterfalls. It took us about an hour to reach the uppermost waterfall.

The waterfalls above the village of Skrut – Mangaro and Dabitsata

After returning to the cars, we headed to the village of Skrut, above which are the last two waterfalls we visited for the day, Mangaro and Dabitsata. It is most convenient to park at the top of the village, near the church. Since the waterfalls are on two different rivers, one is to the east and the other to the west of the starting point.

Mangaro Waterfall

We first went to Mangaro, which takes about 30 minutes to reach. It is a magnificent waterfall when it is full. It is about 15 meters high. After enjoying it, we returned to the turnoff for the other waterfall.

After another 20-30 minutes, we reached the other waterfall - Dabitsa. On the way down to it, we saw that there was another cascade of waterfalls above it. Only a few of us climbed up the steep slope to a rock opposite the waterfalls, but it was well worth the view – it was the icing on the cake for the day.

Dabitsata Waterfall

When we returned to the cars, it was already around 4:30 p.m., and we hadn't had lunch yet. We headed to the village of Samuilovo, where we had been recommended to eat at Valyo Yankish's guest house, located opposite the monument and school in the center of the village. I highly recommend eating there if you are passing by. For more elaborate dishes, call in advance.

After a satisfying meal, we headed to the mineral pools of Rupite, where we deservedly took a dip and relaxed after a wonderful and emotional day.
