This is another cycling tour of Lake Kerkini for our group, but this time the Petrich group joined us and we gathered about 40 people for this tour.
As always, the meeting point was behind the Tasis restaurant, located just after the Struma bridge in Greece, after the turn-off for Kukush/Klikis and before the village of Neo Patritsi.
Video of Cycling tour of Kerkini Lake 2025:From there, the main group headed towards Viroya, while we, just one car with three people, parked in Viroya and waited for the main group to arrive. Then we continued north of Kerkini to Mandraki, where we took a short break, followed by another break in the village of Kerkini. Up to this point, we had been driving away from the lake and there wasn't much to see.

After the village of Kerkini, we turned south towards the lake and drove along the shore. And then... the pink flamingos began to appear. Of course, the whole group stopped to take pictures. I even went deeper into the dry shore (because the water was lower than usual) and tried to take a closer picture of the flamingos, but they moved away.

Then we continued to the village of Litotopos, where the wall of Lake/Dam Kerkini is located. There, we usually sit in the tavern with the high terrace. But this time, 40 people were obviously too many for them, and there was a lot of confusion with the orders, but in the end, we had a good time there too.

To finish the tour, the group split into two – one group took the asphalt road to Iraklia and then Viroya, and the other took the dyke (dirt road) to Viroya. This was the first time I had taken the asphalt road, and it was not of my own volition. The dyke is much more picturesque and interesting.
